This Chester Bagel Shop Was Ranked Among The Top By Patch Readers

CHESTER, NJ — As part of an old, unspoken rivalry between two neighboring states, New York has long claimed to be the world's bagel capital, but many New Jerseyans would disagree.

In honor of National Bagel Day, which occurred this past Sunday and we wanted to know: where can you get the best bagel in and around Mendham and Chester?

With so many places to try in the area, it makes sense that readers couldn't come to a consensus on a singular best place.

However, there was one overwhelming response that many readers agreed on, and that was Chester Bagels & Deli.

"Chester Bagel and Deli in the Walgreens shopping center on Main Street has been a favorite of my family for years," one commenter said.

"Hands down---Chester Bagels," another agreed.

Fans love that their bagels are all made by hand, with one Patch reader saying that the scallion cream cheese is the best in the area.

The runner-up spot, according to Mendham and Chester Patch readers, was Alfa Bagel, which is located at 587 NJ-10, in Randolph. "If you haven't tried them, do yourself a favor and go," a Patch reader shared.
