Chester Kids Learn About Biking Safely
TransOptions taught Chester children some bicycling basics.
CHESTER, NJ - Chester children had the chance to get tips recently on how to bike the right way with the TransOptions “Bike Right” program.
TransOptions, a group that works with New Jerseyans to find more sustainable ways to commute whether for work or fun, offered the free "Learn to Ride" class in Chester, to teach kids the “balance first” method. Click here to view TransOption’s video of the Chester class.
During the 2.5 hour outdoor class, the riding instructors taught kids safe ways to start, stop and steer their bikes. The children were also coached in how to fit their bike helmets properly.

The Learn To Ride class through TransOptions is for ages 5 to 13. The group additionally offers its “Bike Rodeo” for more seasoned riders, from 8 to 13. “Cycling Scouts” is a bicycling program for Girl and Boy Scouts. “Adventure Cycling” is for kids ages 11 through 14, who are looking to ride on trails.

TransOptions features indoor workshops for kids bicycling as well, including “Bike Right” for ages 5 to 10, “Traffic Safety Town” for children ages 8 to 11, “Bike Driver’s Ed” for youth ages 11 to 14 and “Bide Friendly Motorist” for high schoolers, to teach them how to navigate the roads properly while on them with cyclists.
