Chester Police Handle More Than 3,100 Calls In September
Chester Police reported that they responded to over 3,100 calls, including 65 with the first aid squad. Here are details about a few.
CHESTER, NJ — One driver buzzing through Route 206 at more than 90 miles an hour and a son who assaulted his father and then later broke a window, were two of more than 3,100 calls the Chester Police Department responded to in September.

The department reported that among the approximately 3,100 calls officers faced, about 100 less than they had in August, there were 17 car crashes that they investigated, 65 calls to help the First Aid Squad and 16 with the Chester Volunteer Fire Company.

Among the police department’s most notable incidents in September were:
A case involving an unidentified man from Brooklyn on Sept. 15, who a responding officer stopped for driving more than 90 mph on Route 206. According to the police department, the man was charged with DWI, refusal to submit a breath sample, speeding and other unspecified charges. Police additionally found that the man had a warrant from Middlesex Borough.

A father and son argument on Sept. 1 that escalated on Main Street, responding officers discovering that the son had assaulted his father. At the apartment complex where they live, the police department also learned that the son, both father and son unnamed, broke a window and damaged the interior of their building. The son was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.
A Kenvil man on Sept. 4 was charged with DWI, driving while suspended and having an open container in his car as he was driving, after he was stopped by responding officers on Pleasant Hill Road.
