National Night Out Is Back In Chester: Here's What's Planned

This free community event will showcase police and emergency services displays and demonstrations, along with games, activities and more.

CHESTER, NJ — It might feel like it's a while away, but Chester’s Annual Night Out is already on the calendar and returning this August.

On August 7, Chester will host an evening of family fun for the annual National Night Out, aimed at raising awareness of emergency services and strengthening bonds between first responders and the community they serve.

As in years past, all residents of Chester Borough and Chester Township are invited to enjoy food, ice cream, games, and live demonstrations by local emergency service departments at the event.

This year’s National Night Out is scheduled for August 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Municipal Field Gazebo, located at 155 Main Street in Chester Borough. The event will feature food, family activities, and emergency service demonstrations from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by an outdoor movie under the stars from 8 to 10 p.m.

Event organizers say the movie has yet to be selected, but it will be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Residents are encouraged to bring a cozy blanket and snacks to enjoy the show with their friends.

Local first responders, including the Chester Police, Volunteer Fire Company, Chester First Aid Squad, and Morris County Sheriff's Office, will be at the event, which is organized by Chester Recreation.

National Night Out is a yearlong community-building campaign designed to:

  • Raise awareness of crime prevention
  • Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are united and actively fighting back

This night serves as a nationwide call for unity, promoting safety, awareness, and community spirit. National Night Out emphasizes the vital role of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in building a safer nation.
