Coyote Incidents Growing In Mendham Twp., Officials To Hold Info Session
State and local experts will be on hand April 23 to help residents better understand how to deal with wild animals.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – Coyote sightings and interactions have become so frequent in Mendham Township that both police and state officials are putting residents on alert and will be providing an information session on the topic.
Saturday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at the Mendham Township municipal building, the Mendham Township Wildlife Committee will be discussing coyotes and their effect on the area along with the Division of Fish, Game, & Wildlife.

“(Police) were receiving up to three calls a day about interactions, sightings, and concerns from residents,” Mallon told Patch. “This is a chance for all of us to have any questions answered by the expert who knows.”
Mallon said residents have approached him with cell phone videos of coyotes near homes and multiple animals together, including loud howling at night. Many of the incidents have come from the Washington Valley and Brookside areas, he said.

Police said a coyote destroyed a family’s dog in late 2015. Residents are asked to call police immediately if they feel one of the animals is becoming a nuisance in their area.
