Drag, Butkus Take Office At Remote Chester Reorganization Event
The township's meeting on Tuesday was changed from in-person to virtual because of rising COVID case concerns.
CHESTER, NJ — Chester Township’s reorganization meeting switched its format from in-person to remote, the Township Council tackling packed agendas, including swearing in two council members.
The township made the decision on Monday to move to a fully virtual meeting for Tuesday night, with COVID cases rising within Morris County.
During the meeting, Tim Drag and John Butkus were sworn in to their three-year seats, with the Mayor’s appointments to boards and committees also a part of the evening.

There were regular agenda items as well, including the adoption of a temporary budget, needing to be in place at the start of the year, before the municipal budget comes together and is approved.
Councilman Mike Inganamort called the meeting a “productive first Council meeting of 2022.”

Among things Inganamort named as highlights of the meeting, in addition to the swearing in of Drag and Butkus and the appointments of volunteers to committees and commissions, was an approved lease renewal with the Highlands Council “to ensure this valued tenant remains where it is.”
