DWI Checkpoint Set For Chester Township
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced the checkpoint that will be conducted through the end of the month.
CHESTER, NJ — Authorities will be checking for drunken or otherwise impaired drivers during a DWI/DUI checkpoint through the end of October, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced.
Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said that personnel from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Chester Township Police Department will be conducting the checkpoint.
The Prosecutor's Office has received grants from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety to fund DWI checkpoints, which are held in conjunction with local police forces throughout Morris County.

The grant is valid through Sept. 30, 2023.
"Impaired and drunk driving continues to pose a serious threat and harm to our citizens and now, co-joined with all too many cases of distracted driving because of cell phones, these types of operations to deter such behavior remain useful and necessary to protect the public," Carroll said.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has previously coordinated sobriety checks across various municipalities in Morris County, and will do so again in the future with advance public notice.
