Election 2022: James Kelly For Mendham Borough Council
Candidate James Kelly tells Patch why he's seeking election to the Mendham Borough Council.

MENDHAM, NJ — Candidates are set for the Mendham Borough Council race on the Nov. 8 ballot.
In anticipation, Patch sent questionnaires to each of the candidates vying for the open seats on the Council, asking them to share facts about themselves and why voters should choose them to represent the local community.
The responses received will get published between now and Election Day.

- Family: My Mom Dad 5 brothers and sisters all lived on Main street in Mendham Borough my dad is buried at Hilltop cemetery and Mom still has her house on Main Street. My wife Frederica moved to Mendham 32 years ago when we were married. We raised a daughter Kate who is in Veterinarian school in Virginia and a son Connor who is living and working in Austin Texas. I have always had the feeling since I was a child that Mendham felt like a safe Harbor and always felt like home. This is where I was born and raised Learned the Plumbing Trade That supports me. Its where I started my business 35 years ago its where my wife and I raised our family it is where we call Home.

To see through projects we have started and continue to work projects we are in the process of starting and continue to work on ways to save the money.
If elected, what do you hope to accomplish while serving on the council?
To keep upgrading the infrastructure we own in town, To work to bring some new equipment to our Emergency Services and fire department so they will be safe and will help keep us safe. To Keep Mendham Borough moving in the right direction by expanding on the technology that has been integrated into the Municipality. To enhance and maintain the Historical integrity of the town. And keep the town a welcoming accepting friendly community.
What do you think is the most pressing issue facing residents right now and what do you intend to do about it?
This is most likely the last thing that most residents think about. Our sewage treatment plant in Mendham Borough we are in the process of completing a 5 million dollar upgrade to this system. Replacing much needed pumping equipment to take care of parts of town Along with that I have heard that residents would like more access to town information. The Mendham borough Council has integrated Nixle for alerts and town information and SDL portal to do town business and the more we build on those technologies the better information will get out to citizens.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence that you can handle this job?
My experience as a self employed person and employer for the past 35 years have helped me learn how manage people, finances, And difficult challenging situations. I bring those accomplishments with me to the Mendham Borough Council and I feel that has helped me Handle the job so far.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I mentioned before that I have lived in Mendham all of my life I have called it home for 62 years. I enjoy working and take pride in being self supporting in my business life. I like being involved in our Town and helping to keep costs down and Government small. I have a Live and Let Live attitude and that helps me in my daily life.
