How To Recycle Christmas Trees In Mendham, Chester

MENDHAM, NJ — O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, it's almost time to recycle thee.

Once it's time to undeck the halls, here's how to recycle your tree in Mendham and Chester.

In Chester Borough:

Christmas Tree pickups start on Jan. 5 and last for one month. Trees can be left curbside, but the borough says to “use discretion” for leaving disposed trees out in inclement weather. Contact solidwaste@chesterborough.org with questions. See more about Chester Borough Christmas Tree pickup here.

In Chester Township:

Between the week of Jan. 10 and 14, Chester Township DPW plans to collect Christmas trees from residents' curbs, to be shredded and chipped. Tinsel and ornaments need to be removed from trees before they are taken.

In Mendham Borough

Mendham Borough is also offering Christmas Tree pick up for residents.

Christmas Tree pickups started the week of Dec. 28, through the Mendham Borough Public Works brush program. Trees taken will be chipped, with chips available through Public Works by pickup or delivery.

To have trees picked up, remove trees from their stands and take off tinsel, lights and ornaments. Trees shouldn’t be bagged up.

In Mendham Township

Mendham Township plans to begin their Christmas Tree removal program on Monday, Jan. 3. Trees need to be placed curbside by 7 a.m., according to a ticker message on the township’s website.
