ICYMI: Regional Board Member, Chester Twp. Resident Announces Bid For Mayor

CHESTER TWP., N.J. – Marcia Asdal’s no stranger to elected office or community service. That’s why she’s throwing her hat in the ring for a shot at Chester Township’s mayoral position in this June’s Primary Election.

Asdal has served on the West Morris Regional Board of Education since 2012 and has lived in Chester Township for 30 years.

She’s an Illinois State University graduate with degrees in Finance and Business and previously worked at Paine Webber in Morristown.

She and her husband Bill are self-employed and run several business in Chester and surrounding towns.

Asdal is opposing current Mayor Bill Cogger in the Republican Primary. If she wins the Primary and subsequently the General Election in November, Asdal would be forced to resign her post on the regional school board a year early.

“I intend to be an advocate for all our residents and will balance fiscal responsibility with sound judgment. I hope to inspire continued hard work among our municipal employees and community volunteers,” Asdal said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the Council as we focus on preserving the property values of our homeowners and ensuring that Chester Township remains a highly desirable town in which to live.”

The June Primary Election is June 7. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
