Increased Funding For Mendham Fire Department Discussed By Officials

The committee will consider allocating $52,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund to provide the fire department with equipment and tools.

MENDHAM, NJ — An ordinance authorizing the allocation of $52,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund to provide the fire department with equipment and tools will be discussed by the Mendham Township Committee.

The committee will meet on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building at 2 West Main Street to discuss the potential allocation.

If the grant is awarded, the funds will be used to purchase equipment and tools, including turnout gear, as well as to fund a major repair of fire apparatus.

The Mendham Township Fire Department is run entirely by volunteers. The Department is made up of two separate fire companies: Brookside Engine Company on the east side of town and Ralston Engine Company on the west side.

"The volunteer firefighters who serve the community unselfishly contribute their time and effort to fight fires and save lives in Mendham Township," township officials said.
