Inganamort Wins Mayoral Seat In Chester, Unofficial Results Say

CHESTER, NJ — It's official. In the year 2023, Chester Township will have a new mayor.

Here are the unofficial results in the Chester Township mayor's race, which has not yet been certified by the county (that process takes a few days).

Current Mayor Marcia Asdal had previously announced her intention not to run for re-election in the 2022 election cycle, but sitting council member Michael Inganamort has decided to run for the Republican nomination to succeed her.

According to unofficial results from the Morris County Clerk's Office, Inganamort ran unopposed on Tuesday and received 2,083 votes, with 59 votes going to write-in candidates.

Inganamort is in his fifth year on the Chester Township Council and his third year as Council President. He has long been the Council's liaison to the municipal court and the Parks Committee, and he has also rotated as liaison to the finance office, the Board of Health, the Recreation Committee and the Office of Emergency Management.

According to his campaign website, he graduated from American University with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in American government from Georgetown University. Inganamort has since worked as a staffer in the United States House of Representatives and at the Department of the Interior.

Inganamort will be sworn in as Mayor of Chester Township this coming January.
