Kitten Burned In Mendham Christmas Tree Bonfire Has Been Adopted

It's a happy development for the kitten, who is still recovering from burn injuries.

MENDHAM, NJ — Less than a month are being burned in a post-Christmas bonfire, Firecat has a new home.

The kitten, now named Firecat, was adopted on Feb. 1, the Randolph Regional Animal Shelter said in an update. He had been staying at the shelter while receiving treatment for his injuries.

Firecat was hurt when he hid inside a pile of Christmas trees ahead of the annual end-of-the-season bonfire hosted by the Mendham Fire Department. The 13-week-old kitten escaped from the pile after the trees were lit.
