Lifesaving Rescue In Chester Honored By Chester Mayor And Police
Two police officers have been presented with a "Life Saving Award" for their actions in reviving a Chester resident.

CHESTER, NJ — Two local police officers have been presented with a "Life Saving Award" for their actions in reviving a Chester resident.
At the joint meeting of Chester Township and Chester Borough on Tuesday night, the mayors, council members, and Police Chief Ryan McNamee presented the "Lifesaving Award" to Gregory Lowe, a Parsippany Police Officer and Chester resident, as well as Gary Marshuetz, a Livingston Police Chief and Chester resident.
The two men performed CPR on a fellow Chester resident who had gone into cardiac arrest. The two residents ultimately contributed to the survival of their neighbor and friend, Chester Borough Mayor Janet Hoven said.

Marshuetz was at the home of the man involved in the incident, whose name has not been released due to privacy concerns, where a few men had gathered to watch the college football championship game.
According to Hoven, the man went upstairs to get something from the kitchen, and the others in the basement heard a noise and went upstairs to investigate. That's when they discovered their friend, who was unconscious on the floor.

"Gary is also the police chief in Livingston, and he immediately checked for breathing and then began CPR," Hoven said.
A call came over the police scanner informing Lowe, a Parsippany police officer who lives next door to the residence where this was taking place, that an incident had occurred there. He rushed over after hearing the call, jumped into action with Marshuetz, and together they were able to revive their friend.
Soon after, the Chester First Aid Squad and Chester Police showed up and took control, continuing to help the man.
Hoven and Michael Inganamort, the mayor of Chester Township, both expressed their appreciation and pride for Lowe and Marshuetz's prompt action.
