Local Law Enforcement Teaming Up For Mendham's National Night Out

National Night Out is a fun night that is intended to foster a strong sense of community in Mendham.

MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Township Police Department is inviting residents to spend time getting to know their officers as well as learning about some of the many cultures that make up the township's residents at the 2022 National Night Out event.

This year's National Night Out is scheduled for August 10, with the community event taking place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Brookside Beach, located at 18 West Main Street in Brookside.

National Night Out began in the 1980s as a way to demonstrate community unity against crime and has since become an annual event across the country.

The community event aims to strengthen relationships between neighbors and law enforcement while also restoring a true sense of community. It is intended to provide a positive environment for police and neighbors to collaborate.

The Mendham celebration will also include a movie screening of "Sonic the Hedgehog" beginning at 8 p.m. or as soon as the sun goes down, according to police.

There will be numerous first responder displays, yoga demonstrations, food trucks, and games such as "Dunk A Cop." Attendees will also be able to swim from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is free for all community members.

"We are about 2 weeks away from Mendham Township’s Night out! Come on out for a family night of fun," the police department said in a Facebook post.
