Longtime Chester Resident, Youth Sports Coach Dies At 54
Gordon Furlong moved to town 21 years ago.

Chester, N.J. – Gordon Furlong loved to play sports and support his children in all their endeavors.
The longtime Chester resident died recently at the age of 54.
Furlong grew up in Old Bridge and lived in Kentucky and Morristown before moving to Chester 21 years ago. He worked as the head of Regional Compensation and Benefits for MunichRe America.

Furlong was a member of the St. Lawrence Men’s Cornerstone, and loved playing tennis and basketball. He and his family spent vacations in Long Beach Island, Hilton Head, and Sunny Hill.
Furlong also coached his children in basketball and most of all wanted them to be happy in all they did.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane Ellen, one son and a daughter along with a large extended family.
Visitation will be held at the William Leber Funeral Home on Monday, June 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Furnace Road. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church.
A memorial donation may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center.
