Chester Township Appoints New Leadership: Meet The New Mayor
The township has officially elected Tim Drag as the new mayor, replacing Mike Inganamort. Here's what you need to know about the official.
CHESTER, NJ — Mike Inganamort, the former Mayor of Chester Township, recently left his post early after winning a state assembly bid during the November election, leaving many to speculate about who would fill his seat.
Inganamort, who announced his candidacy with Sussex County Commissioner Dawn Fantasia on Jan. 18, citing the need for "fresh, new conservative leaders in NJ-24," officially resigned from his role as mayor on Jan. 8.
Since Inganamort is a Republican, the Chester Township Republican Committee was left responsible for suggesting three choices to the council for a new mayor.

On Jan. 16, that decision was made and Councilman Tim Drag was officially named as Inganamort's successor.
"I couldn’t be happier for my friend. He’s going to do great things," Inganamort said on social media.

Prior to his appointment as mayor, Drag was a township councilman for more than five years.
Patch spoke to the new mayor to learn about his plans for Chester Township in 2024 and beyond:
What are the major challenges facing the community and how would you address them?
As a “tip of the cap” to Assemblyman Mike Inganamort, the township is in a great position. We will need to address the development of The Glenlora Property in a way that is in keeping with Chester while providing affordable housing for our residents.
We will tackle this issue head-on, like any other issue we will face this year.
What, according to you, is the best part about living in Chester Township?
The people. Chester is full of wonderful, caring people. People who will help you at the drop of a hat. People who volunteer energetically. Most importantly, people who have a sense of community.
Chester is a community that welcomes anyone, from anywhere, and from any background.
What makes you the best person for this position?
I think what makes me a good choice for mayor is that I’m not a typical politician. I will make all decisions based on what’s right, not what's politically expedient.
I care deeply about Chester and I'm optimistic for its future.
I hope our residents love living here as much as my family does. I also want to position Chester to be the town of choice for future residents to raise their families.
