Mendham Coffee Shop Named One Of New Jersey's Best

MENDHAM, NJ — Coffee lovers tend to have very strong opinions about where to get the best cup of joe-- and exactly how they take it.

If you love coffee, you’ll be glad to know that a local coffee shop has been named one of the best in New Jersey.

Website Best of NJ put together a list of the best cafés and coffee shops in New Jersey, and it features a local Mendham spot.

Simple Coffee, located at 15 West Main Street in Mendham, is one of NJ's best coffee shops, according to Best of NJ.

"Simple Coffee is a local favorite for caffeinated beverages. In particular, they serve organic, fair-trade coffee using beans brought in from all over the world," the website wrote.

The local coffee shop first opened its doors back in 2016 under the ownership of Dave Walters. Ownership of the café has since changed over to Olivia DeMattio, who officially took over in 2021.

DeMattio had previously served as the original manager of Simple Coffee before purchasing it from the owner.

"I've turned the place around the last two years and I’m so proud of how it’s doing we also have our own brand of cake pops and sugar cookies that are fairly new," DeMattio told Patch.

While coffee is its namesake, the café offers a variety of options, including frappes, smoothies and teas. During the fall, their menu has also included seasonal favorites such as apple cider and all things pumpkin.

To complement your beverage, the café offers a rotating selection of pastries such as muffins, scones, cinnamon buns, croissants, and savory options such as pulled pork buns and cheddar pretzels.

"Proud to be named for the second year in a row by Best of NJ as one of the best Cafés and Coffee shops in New Jersey. So thankful to be recognized, we really have a special spot right here in Mendham," the staff at Simple Coffee said about being recognized.

As part of their connection with the Mendham community, Simple Coffee hosts an annual "Cars and Coffee" event right on Main Street. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at Simple Coffee and proceeds down the street. Attendees were able to enjoy a hot dog stand, baked goods, and live music while admiring classic and customized cars.

Simple Coffee is open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
