Mendham Fire Department Purchases New $1M Rescue Engine

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — The Mendham Fire Department announced it has purchased a new rescue engine to better serve borough residents in an emergency.

The department purchased the rescue engine, which has a 750-gallon water tank, from Sparta-based Ferrara Fire. The custom Cinder Rescue Pumper Apparatus will replace Rescue 5 (a 2003 Pierce) and Engine 2 (a 1998 Pierce), which are pictured above. Both have been in service for more than 20 years.

"The department has spent multiple years researching, and testing different apparatus to ensure this engine meets the needs of our town," department officials said.

The borough council approved the $1,049,333 purchase in December, with $220,000 coming from the general capital fund and $850,000 funded by bonds, according to council documents.

The Fire Department thanked Mayor Glassner, the borough council, and Mendham residents "for the unwavering support."
