Mendham Freshman Attains Eagle Scout With School Landscape Project
Matthew Fabrizio created two planter boxes to beautify outside of Mountain View Middle School.

MENDHAM, N.J. – Matthew Fabrizio saw the finish line and raced to it without hesitation.
The Boy Scout has achieved the rank of Eagle, the highest in all of Scouting. But if the accomplishment wasn’t enough on its own, Fabrizio took it one step further: he attained the rank after just four years as a member of Troop 1 in Mendham.
The high school freshman undertook a landscape beautification project for the Garden Committee of Mountain View Middle School in Mendham, where he designed two, eight-foot wooden, two-tiered planting beds for both sides of the front entrance of the school.

The planters were filled in part with recyclable material in keeping with the school’s Green Initiatives. Fabrizio was also responsible for the fundraising efforts for the entire cost of the project and lead a crew of volunteers who helped assemble the planters on site.
Fabrizio will formally receive his Eagle Scout award at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mendham on April 10.
