Movies, Swimming And Fun At Mendham Township's National Night Out
The event will include live demonstrations by the local police department, fire company and more.
MENDHAM, NJ — Bring your kids and head over to the fourth annual Mendham Township National Night Out event on Wednesday for free food and lots of fun.
The community event is from 6 to 10 p.m. at Brookside Beach, located at 18 West Main Street, in Brookside.
"Join Mendham Township Police Department, Mendham Township First Aid Squad, Brookside Engine Company, Ralston Engine Co No. 1, The Mendhams Stigma Free Task Force, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Support Services, Morris County 9-1-1 Center and Mendham Township Recreation for a celebration of community," Mendham Township officials said.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy including swimming and inflatable water slides. Brookside Beach will be open with music until 8 p.m., after which there will be a ceremony on the beach.
Food trucks will be available to purchase food and snacks from and the township will be providing a movie showing of "DC League of Super Pets," which will begin at sundown.

National Night Out is an event that aims to improve relationships between neighbors and law enforcement while also restoring a true sense of community. It is intended to provide an opportunity for police and neighbors to work together in a positive setting.
The initiative, which began in 1984, promotes crime prevention activities, community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie.
Mendham Township first responders, including local police, fire, and first aid squads, will have a wide range of live displays and demonstrations for the entire family to enjoy. Morris County Sheriff's Office will also be present.
During the event, there will also be a dunk tank where community members can take turns dunking local police officers into the water. According to officials, the dunk tank will remain open until 8 p.m.
The schedule of events is as follows:
- Brookside Beach will be open with music from 6 until 8 p.m. with swimming and inflatable water slides
- Movie showing of DC League of Super Pets will begin at sundown
- Displays and demonstrations: from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Dunk a police officer – Dunk Tank is open until 8 p.m.
- Food trucks: Starting at 6 p.m.
- Ceremony on the beach beginning at 8 p.m.
