Newcomers Split Primary Ballots In Chester Twp., Borough
One borough incumbent won't seek re-election.

CHESTER, N.J. – The June Primary Election is sure to have some fireworks in Chester Borough and Township, as political newcomers have thrown their hats into the ring.
In Chester Township, longtime Mayor Bill Cogger is being challenged on the Republican Primary ballot by West Morris Regional School Board member Marcia Asdal for a spot on the November ballot. The position comes with a three-year term.
Next door in Chester Township, Borough Council member Karen Ferrone is seeking re-election, while Russell Goodwin is looking for his first shot at the town’s governing body.

Current council member Jennifer Cooper-Napalitano has not filed for re-election, paving the way for Ferrone and Goodwin to reach the November General Election ballot.
No Democrats have filed to run in the Primary in either town.

The race for Morris County Freeholders in the June Primary is also a packed field, with seven Republicans and five Democrats looking for three spots each on the November ballot. The Republicans are:
- Doug Cabana (incumbent)
- Kathy DeFillippo (incumbent)
- Roman Hirniak
- Peter King
- Tom Mastrangelo (incumbent)
- Louis Valori
The Democrats are:
- Charles Bogusat
- Rozella Clyde
- Carl Fenske
- Mitchell Horn
- John Von Achen
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.
