North Jersey Man Killed In 'Extremely' High Speed Crash: PD

Delaware police said the man was going "extremely" fast when he crashed in a 25 miles per hour zone.

HAMBURG, NJ — A North Jersey man was killed in an "extremely high speed" crash in Delaware early Monday morning, Delaware State Police said.

The man, a 48-year-old from Hamburg, was driving in Milton, Delaware around 12:40 a.m. when his car went off the roadway and hit a large tree in someone's front lawn, police said. The man was ejected from the car before it struck the tree.

Police said the man was going an "extremely high rate of speed" on a 25 mile per hour road when the crash happened. Police did not immediately return a request for the exact speed.

Debris from the car struck the home, but no one that was home at the time was injured, police said.

The road was closed for three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The man's identity is not being released pending the notification of his family.
