Pickleball Court Addition Coming To Chubb Park In Chester
Chester is one of many towns that have jumped on board with the pickleball craze, which has been on the rise in recent years.
CHESTER, NJ — Get out your racquets, a new pickleball court is coming to Chubb Park.
Chester is one of numerous towns that have joined the pickleball craze, which has grown in popularity in recent years, necessitating the addition of more space.
The Chubb Park playground and other components of the well-liked township park are currently being renovated by the Chester Township Parks Committee. The playground has undergone changes, including new ground and playground equipment.

The tennis courts at the park will also be stripped as part of the renovation so that pickleball can be played on them when there are no tennis players present, according to park officials.
Chubb Park has two tennis courts, both of which will be able to host pickleball games.

There is also currently a Chester Pickleball Group run by Chester Township Recreation. This group offers an "open play" program with daily reserved court times in the morning, late afternoon, and evening.
The cost to join the group is $5 for Chester residents and $10 for non-residents. Non-residents are initially waitlisted, and admitted if space permits. The Summer Season runs from June 21, to Sept. 20, and the Fall Season runs from Sept. 21, to Dec. 20, officials said.

For those who are unaware, pickleball is a form of mini-tennis that was developed in 1965 to offer a sport for the whole family. With a court the size of a doubles badminton court and only a fifth of the space required for tennis, the game is a hybrid of Ping-Pong, tennis and badminton.
Pickleball can be played either indoors or outdoors.
