Pitney Farm Auction To Be Held In December
The main house, barn and out-buildings are all set to go up for auction.

MENDHAM, NJ — Nearly two years after a fire tore through the historic property, part of Pitney Farms will be put up for auction.
Just over five acres will be auctioned off on Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. The parcel of land includes main house, barn and out-buildings. Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Company are hosting the auction, and it is open to the public. (You can find more information about the auction here.)
The future of the other seven acres still remains unclear. A task force was established to help determine possible usages.

The main home on the Pitney Farm property was destroyed in a fire in Feb. 2016. The home suffered a partial collapse, and was considered a total loss. It dated back to the early 1700s; no one was living in the home at the time of the fire.
Officials said the fire was caused by a "human act," but its unclear what happened with the investigation. Patch has reached out to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office for more information.
