Annual Police Fishing Frenzy Returns To Mendham Borough
Young anglers are invited to cast their lines for several species of trout at this fifth annual community event.
MENDHAM, NJ — The Fishing Frenzy is back — and Mendham Borough kids are invited to cast a line with local police this May.
The annual Fishing Frenzy is set for Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mountain Valley Park on Mountain Avenue in Mendham Borough, rain or shine, according to officials.
State law requires anyone between the ages of 16 and 69 to have a fishing license, so the event is open only to children under the age of 16, police added.

Children will have the opportunity to fish in the park's stocked pond, which will feature a collection of rainbow trout, golden trout, and even "monster" trout. To help everyone cool down, there will be plenty of refreshments available, including hot dogs, potato chips, soda, water, and ice cream.
While there is no fee to participate, all anglers must sign in before fishing, police said. In accordance with state law, each fisherman is allowed to keep up to six trout that are nine inches or longer.

For safety reasons, lures and three-prong hooks are prohibited; anyone caught using them will be asked to leave, police added.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles and join local police for a fun-filled day of food, fishing and community.
