Rate Increase Proposed For Mendham Township Sewer Services
The township will discuss an ordinance that would slightly raise rates for Mendham West Water Pollution Control System customers.
MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Township Committee will be discussing a potential rate increase for Mendham West Water Pollution Control System customers during tonight's committee meeting.
The proposed ordinance calls for an amendment to the already established sanitary sewer service fees in order to raise them for the coming year.
The established service charge for a single-family property is $1,507, while the rate for a condo unit is currently $622, according to the current code. The annual service charges are currently billed by the Township Collector of Taxes and are due quarterly on Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1 and Nov. 1 of each year.

Under the new proposed rate those numbers would increase to $1,621 for a single-family property and $669 for condo unit, according to the ordinance.
If a bill for service charges is not paid by the due date, the amount owed will bear interest at the rate of 8 percent each year up to $1,500 and 8 percent over $1,500.

A wastewater treatment facility and an affordable housing development with a total of 98 units are included in the "Mendham West Water Pollution Control System" facilities. They are both located at 351 Pleasant Valley Road.
The ordinance is expected to be discussed by the township council at its meeting tonight. If passed, the established rate structure will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, and will remain in effect until amended or modified.
