  1. A Roselle Park homeowner who defended her right to keep profane Trump and Biden signs on her fence has lost in court, but has set up a GoFundMe for a legal fund to fight to keep the signs up. (Read more on Patch)
  2. As if the pressure weren't high enough, Alton Brown turned up the heat on the "Chopped: Alton's Maniacal Baskets" finale by increasing the grand prize from $25,000 to $50,000. South+pine owner Leia Gaccione fell short in a "dead heat" in the final dessert round, but she proved plenty to herself in front of a national audience. (Read more on Patch)

On Tuesday, the day Amazon founder Jeff Bezos blasted into space on his company's - Blue Origin - New Shepard rocket, New Jersey-raised comedian Jon Stewart posted on Twitter a fake movie trailer mocking the billionaire space race between Bezos, Sir Richard Branson and Elon Musk.   4. On Saturday, July 10 about 100 people gathered, in the nude, at Gunnison Beach at Sandy Hook. This is not news, as Gunnison Beach is New Jersey's only legal "clothing-optional" beach and has been that way since the late 1970s. (Read more on Patch)
  5. Hoboken insurance agent Roger Muller, a longtime fisherman, was excited to see three whales swimming just off the Jersey shore last month, and posted video recently. Muller said he saw the mammals near the northern part of the shore, and that he'd never seen them this close to land. (Read more on Patch)
