Road Closures, Detours Set In Chester For Saturday's Spring Stampede

CHESTER, N.J. – The sound of cars cruising down Main Street in Chester will be replaced by the slapping of running shoes on the pavement, as the annual Spring Stampede 5K Run/Walk event hits the road.

The 5K begins at 9 a.m., while the Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. with all participants congregating at the Gazebo on Main Street.

As a result of the event, many of Chester’s main roadways will be closed for a portion of the morning and detours will be in place.

• Main Street at Church Street
• Main Street at Seminary Ave
• Maple Ave and Seminary Ave
• Hillside Road and Ammerman Way

"The 5k will begin promptly at 8am. We understand that St. Lawrence Church will be having its First Holy Communion on the same day at 10am and early drop-offs may begin at 9:30am. Main Street will be open prior to the Communion commencing. Upon completion of the 5k, Main Street at Collis Lane as well as Collis Lane to Ammerman Way will be closed for the Fun Run," the police department said.
