Road Projects For Mendham Included In Morris Co. 2023 Spending Plan

MENDHAM, NJ — The Morris County Board of County Commissioners recently unveiled a comprehensive capital spending plan for Morris County, which includes two separate road resurfacing projects for Mendham Township.

The Capital Budget Committee of the board, comprised of Commissioner Director Tayfun Selen and Commissioners Stephen H. Shaw and Thomas Mastrangelo, outlined how federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds are being used to reduce future borrowing needs.

The county's 2023 Capital Spending Plan has allocated $34.7 million to improving human services, public safety, public health, and road, intersection and bridge upgrades.

In Mendham, more than three miles of Mendham Road (CR 510) from Indian Head Road to Cold Hill Road will be completely resurfaced, according to the projected spending plan.

The county will also resurface nearly four miles of Tempe Wick Road/Glen Alpin Road (CR 646) between Leddell Road and Blue Mill Road.

“This capital plan makes good on our annual commitment to maintain and improve our transportation infrastructure. It contains $15.5 million to resurface 26 miles of roads in 14 towns, $7.4 million to complete bridge and culvert upgrades and $2.6 million for improvements to major county intersections,” said Commissioner Shaw, chairman of the county budget committee. “At the same time, we are committing $2 million to the county park system and investing $1.7 million in information technology improvements.”

The two projects are expected to start sometime in 2023, though no specific date has been set.
