CHESTER, NJ — With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many are starting to get into the holiday spirit, searching for the perfect stocking stuffers and gifts for the season.

Small Business Saturday, falling between the shopping juggernauts of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is the perfect opportunity to support local Chester businesses while getting a head start on your holiday shopping.

This year, the shopping event is scheduled for Nov. 30.

Small Business Saturday was launched by American Express during the 2010 recession to encourage people to support small businesses, which are the backbone of every community.

The day quickly gained popularity and spread across the country, with the Senate unanimously passing a resolution in support of it in 2011.

The Historic Chester Business Association, with nearly 50 years of dedication to supporting local businesses, encourages shoppers to make Chester their destination for holiday shopping.

Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign that highlights and supports small businesses while encouraging consumers to shop locally. The goal is to boost local communities and economies during the holiday season, helping small businesses thrive, according to officials.
