CHESTER, NJ — Chester Township will honor those who died on Sept. 11, 2001 with a remembrance ceremony at the Chubb Park 9/11 Memorial this Wednesday.

The 18th anniversary of the attacks will be marked with a re-dedication ceremony in memory of Chester resident and Port Authority police officer, Gregg Froehner. The ceremony will be held in Chubb Park at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11.

The Survivor Tree is a Callery pear tree planted at the World Trade Center site. It was found by first responders in Oct. 2001 "severely damaged, with snapped roots and burned and broken branches," according to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The tree was rehabilitated and returned to the site in 2010, where, two years later, it stood through Hurricane Sandy. It is still currently standing.
