Police say man tried speaking with boy at intersection of Mendham Road and Knollwood Trail.

Mendham Twp., N.J. – Mendham Township police are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred late last week involving a 12-year-old boy and a man who tried to engage in conversation with him, Commanding Officer Ross Johnson said.

The boy, riding his bike on Mendham Road at 4:45 p.m. Friday, June 24, passed Knollwood Trail when he saw a parked car about 30 feet from the intersection.

There was a man standing beside the vehicle, who called to the boy and asked him to come closer to the car to show him something in the rear of the vehicle, Johnson said.
