Suspicious Package Gets 'All Clear' In Chester Shopping Plaza

Shopping plaza was blocked off Thursday morning while bomb squad investigated for about an hour.

CHESTER, N.J. - An unattended package was investigated in Chester Thursday morning, shutting down a shopping plaza on Route 206, police said.

The Chester Borough Police Department told residents to stay away from the area of the Starbucks in the Chester Springs Mall while the investigation was ongoing. As of 10 a.m., the Morris County Bomb Squad was on scene, but by 10:35 a.m. the scene was given an all clear.

The Bank of America building on Rt. 206 was evacuated during the incident. By 10:40 a.m. all employees were allowed to return to their jobs.

The unattended packages turned out to be books and clothing inside shopping bags, police said.
