WEATHER UPDATE: Hour-by-Hour Forecast As Snow Hits Mendham-Chester

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook after reporting that 3 to 6 inches of snow and traces of ice are expected to blanket the region.

About 2 inches of snow had fallen in the Morris County area by 3 p.m., according to the NWS.

Mendham-Chester can expect snow this afternoon, heavy at times, with temperatures around 35, the NWS said. Total possible daytime snow accumulations are between 3 and 5 inches.

Tonight, Mendham-Chester can expect snow before midnight, then a chance of freezing rain. The snow could be heavy at times. Patchy freezing fog after 5 a.m. and a low around 28. Possible snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches, the NWS reported.

Temperatures are expected to warm up on the weekend, however. Saturday and Sunday are expected to have peak temperatures of 46 and 39 degrees respectively.
