Middletown Man Sentenced For Stabbing Female Relative Inside Home
Police say Timothy Sauers stabbed a woman he was related to in the neck on July 5, 2023 inside a home on Hillside Street.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A 38-year-old Middletown man who violently stabbed a female relative multiple times in their Middletown home in July 2023 was sentenced to 15 years in state prison, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Tuesday.
Timothy Sauers was sentenced Thursday by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Paul Escandon.
Sauers must serve a minimum of 85 percent of that sentence before the possibility of parole. Under the terms of the plea, Sauers will have no further contact with the victim and cannot return to the scene where the crime took place.

On July 5, 2023, Middletown Police were called to a home on Hillside Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a woman, suffering from a single stab wound to the neck.
She was transported to a local hospital for her injury, along with another resident who stepped in to stop the attack.

The victim’s two minor grandchildren were present at the time of the stabbing but were unharmed.
The woman's identity or relationship to Sauers was never disclosed by the prosecutor.
An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Middletown Township Police Department determined Sauers was responsible for the stabbing. In January, he pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree attempted murder.
