4 Rescued Off Jersey Shore, All Found Clinging To Overturned Boat
The U.S. Coast Guard made the rescue in the wee hours of Sunday morning after receiving a report that the boat was taking on water.
SANDY HOOK, NJ - Four people found hanging onto an overturned sailboat off the coast of Sandy Hook were rescued Sunday, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.
The quartet was discovered at around 2 a.m. after coast guard rescue crews received a distress call around 1 a.m. from the sailing vessel Eagle, claiming it was run aground and was taking on water.
The four were found holding onto the boat’s hull near the Romer Shoal Light Station, located about 2.5 nautical miles from Sandy Hook, the Associated Press reported.

Two individuals were rescued by crews from Station Sandy Hook; the other pair were rescued by New York fire crews. All four were taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, coast guard officials said.
All boaters from the vessel were accounted for and are being treated for injuries at the hospital, the coast guard said.
