Coast Guard Rescues Fisherman Off Tip Of Sandy Hook Saturday

The Coast Guard rescued a motorboat operator who suffered a medical episode while in his fishing boat Saturday afternoon off Sandy Hook.

HIGHLANDS, NJ — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a motorboat operator who suffered a medical episode while in his fishing boat Saturday off Sandy Hook.

The Coast Guard confirmed they received a distress radio call for help at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 75-year-old man was alone in his fishing boat off the northern tip of Sandy Hook when he started experiencing chest pains Saturday afternoon, said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer third class Logan Kaczmarek.

He was able to navigate the boat to the Coast Guard pier at Sandy Hook, where Sea Bright EMS transported him to further care.

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
