County Will Spray For Mosquitoes Thursday In Middletown
Monmouth County will spray for mosquitoes in the Harmony section of Middletown early Thursday morning, Sept. 12, between 4:30-6:30 a.m.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Monmouth County will spray for mosquitoes in the Harmony section of Middletown early Thursday morning, Sept. 12, between the hours of 4:30 and 6:30 a.m.
The county will be spraying poison to kill adult mosquitoes. They will spray this down residential streets between Main Street north to Rt. 36 and Palmer Avenue to Pews Creek (Ravatt Rd./Fielding Avenue); see map in red above of where they will be spraying.
The county will be spraying Zenivex E4 RTU, using truck-mounted, ultra-low-volume equipment. Here's a factsheet on Zenivex: https://www.middletownnj.org/D...

That's not all: Later Thursday, between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., the county will also be treating curbside catch basins in a section of Middletown. See the second photo for where. They will be applying diluted Vectobac 12AS, a liquid larvicide with the active ingredient Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) directly into catch basins.
Bti is a naturally occurring soil bacterium that can kill mosquito larvae and is considered a low-impact pesticide by EPA and approved for organic farming in other formulations. It is non-toxic to mammals, fish and birds.
