Here's Where Middletown North/South Stand In U.S. News High School Rankings

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — On Tuesday, U.S. News & World Report released their 2025-'26 list of the best high schools in the state, and the nation.

And here's where Middletown North and South fell:

Middletown High School South (1,492 student enrollment) is ranked the 122nd best high school in New Jersey. The Advanced Placement participation rate at Middletown High School South is 58 percent. Six percent of students are considered economically disadvantaged. At South:

• Took at Least One AP® Exam: 58 percent
• Passed at Least One AP® Exam: 42 percent
• Mathematics Proficiency: 79 percent
• Reading Proficiency: 63 percent
• Science Proficiency: 32 percent
• Graduation Rate: 98 north

Middletown High School North (1,322 student enrollment) is ranked the 210th best high school in New Jersey. The Advanced Placement participation rate at Middletown High School North is 34 percent. 17 percent of students are considered economically disadvantaged. At North:

• Took at Least One AP® Exam 34 percent
• Passed at Least One AP® Exam 20 percent
• Mathematics Proficiency 66 percent
• Reading Proficiency 54 percent
• Science Proficiency 32 percent
• Graduation Rate 90 percent

As it has for the past several years, High Technology High School on Newman Springs Road in Lincroft was ranked the No. 1 best high school in the state of New Jersey. High Tech is part of the Monmouth County Vocational School District and students have to apply to go there. They only take a certain number of students from each district each year, and it is extremely competitive to get into High Tech.
