The two-day job will repave Monmouth Street between Broad Street and Maple Avenue.
On Wednesday, road construction crews were stripping the surface of Monmouth Street, a busy street lined with shops and restaurants between Broad Street and Maple Avenue in Red Bank, to prepare it for a fresh layer of asphalt.
Work on the two-day job began early Wednesday morning. The road has been closed to through traffic - though pedestrians are allowed to walk through - both Wednesday and Thursday. Detours have been set up and police are currently patrolling the area to assist wayward drivers.
According to the borough, work is expected to conclude at 5 p.m. Thursday.
