Middletown Passes Resolution to Reduce Transit Parking Fee

The Middletown Township Committee passed a resolution to lower parking permit fees by $75.

The Middletown Township Committee has passed a resolution to lower parking permit fees for NJ Transit lots along Route 36 by $75, according to the Independent.

The decision came after NJ Transit had ordered that permit fees for the lot, owned in part by Middletown Township, to be raised to $450. However, after seeing a dramatic decrease in purchases of parking permits, township officials requested a meeting with representatives from NJ Transit to renegotiate the fee to $375.

“Lowering the fees is an attempt to offer commuters some relief and attract potential permit holders,” Middletown Township Committee Business Administrator Anthony Mercantante said.
