Middletown School Superintendent Shoots Down Rumors About Hiring 2 New Athletic Directors

The district will not hire two athletic directors, the superintendent stressed, contrary to a rumor circulating around town.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — If current Middletown school district athletic director Richard Carroll quits or retires in the future, the school district will hire a new athletic director to replace him.

This was stated by superintendent Jessica Alfone at the most recent Middletown school board meeting, held last Tuesday night, Nov. 25.

But the district will not hire two athletic directors, the superintendent stressed. That is a current rumor circulating around town, school board member Leonora Lacqua-Caminiti said at the meeting.

About 18 years ago, the Middletown school district had two athletic directors and it "didn't work out," Lacqua-Caminiti said. She said it caused "a lot of division in town."

Alfone said the district has not had any discussions at all about hiring a new athletic director, but should the current AD retire, the district will replace him with one new athletic director.
