A structure in the East Keansburg section of Middletown Township suffered only minor exterior damage after a Tuesday fire, according to John Isaksen, spokesman for the Middletown Fire Department.

At approximately 10:58 a.m. yesterday morning, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to a “porch fire” at 33 Bayside Parkway, according to Isaksen. Approximately 30 firefighters from the East Keansburg and Port Monmouth Fire Companies, under the command of Department Chief Peter Laimann, responded to the scene.

The first arriving fire units observed fire on the second story exterior deck and on the exterior of the first floor directly below the deck of the structure. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, which was contained to the exterior of the structure only, causing minor damage.

Chief Laimann declared the fire under control by 11:15 a.m. The last units left the scene by 11:45 a.m, according to Isaksen.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.

The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention.
