The StudioKids Art Camp has focused on comic book art this past week with over 20 kids creating their comic books for publishing and sale at this event. Starting on Monday with character development, and moving through the week to create their concept, stories, and artwork, the participants look forward to their own “Comic Con."
Started in 2007, StudioKids Art, owned by local business woman Suzanne O'Connor, has been running this camp every summer and has developed well regarded comic book classes during the school year. They have also created the Super Secret Comic Book Club TM that many of the campers belong to.

“The kids absolutely love this, as do the parents,” says comic book instructor and artist Rick Celano, also known as “Rickman." “They come up with some amazing stuff ... interesting stories and terrific drawings that we have fun working with and developing during the course of the week.”
Does he think there are some professional comic book stars in the making? “Well, the comic book industry is a very tough field to get into, but these kids have so much creativity and genuinely good ideas, as well as the enthusiasm to make anything happen, no matter what they decide to do," he said. "One thing's for sure, they have an appreciation for good story telling and good artwork! And they love to sell their goods!”
So stop by and check it out.
