Essex Man Caught on Tape Striking Summit Subway Employee With Chair
A Summit Subway employee was punched and struck with a chair by an irate customer, Police say.

A Newark man was caught on surveillance punching and striking a female employee at a Summit Subway with a chair, reports say.
Muhammad Sharif, 36, of Newark, was apprehended by Summit Police minutes after fleeing the Union Place Subway on Saturday evening, NJ.com reported.
Summit Police Capt. Steven Zagorski told the news source that Sharif became aggressive after asking to see a manager, who was not available. The 21-year-old employee threatened to call the police, before being assaulted by the Newark customer. NJ.com reported that Sharif fled the scene after another customer tried to intervene.

Sharif has been charged with third degree aggravated assault. The victim was treated at Overlook Hospital and released the same evening.
