Montclair High School Ranked 10th Among Essex High Schools
Millburn, Glen Ridge, Livingston, and Cedar Grove schools all come out better.

Only three months ago, U.S. News and World Report released its fourth edition of the Best High Schools rankings, including rankings for schools in New Jersey.
At the time, the highest ranked high school in Essex County was Millburn High School, which placed 12th out of 377 public schools and 12 charter schools. Nearby Glen Ridge High School ranked 20th. Now, in a new ranking of the Garden State's high schools published this week by Inside Jersey, Montclair High School ranked behind Millburn, Glen Ridge, Livingston, James Caldwell, and Cedar Grove, among other high schools, when it comes to Essex County schools, despite the town of Montclair boasting one of the higher median home values ($601,100).
Montclair High School came in 10th out of 35 ranked Essex public high schools, according to the list.

Out of all the New Jersey schools on the list, Millburn High School was the highest ranked school from Essex County, coming in at number 17.
Inside Jersey based its scores on the most recent High School Proficiency Assessment released by the New Jersey Department of Education. However, Inside Jersey noted that it weighted the test results to give advanced scores greater value.
For the first time, charter schools also are included in the rankings, although they don’t perform nearly as well as the magnets, Inside Jersey said.
