Montclair Police: Stay Off Icy Roads, Sidewalks
Police and ambulance personnel are urging locals to stay inside as black ice, freezing rain cause treacherous conditions.

Montclair Police and Ambulance personnel are urging residents to stay inside today, as freezing rain has created treacherous conditions throughout Montclair.
The Montclair Police Department issued a severe weather warning this morning, stating that icy conditions are causing hazards on both the streets and sidewalks.
The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory, saying freezing rain will lead to ice accumulations.

A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain soaked Montclair on Sunday morning, and will return on Sunday night and Monday morning.

The Montclair Ambulance Unit also warned residents to use extreme caution in icy conditions.
“Dangerous road conditions exist due to black ice,” a rep from the ambulance unit stated in a weather warning. “Please use extreme caution, avoid non-essential travel, and use caution walking outdoors.”
NJ Transit bus service in north Jersey is not operating at this time due to icy road conditions.
NJ Transit has instituted a systemwide cross-honoring of rail, light rail and bus passes/tickets today due to the extreme weather conditions. In addition, the speed for the entire length of the NJ Turnpike has been restricted to 35 mph.
There were 231 accidents and 103 “aids” reported by New Jersey State Police between midnight and 10 a.m.
