Police: Montclair Woman Crashed Into Tree, Parked Mercedes While Intoxicated
Montclair Police arrested a local woman for allegedly crashing into a parked car and a tree on Valley Road while under the influence.

The Montclair Police Department recently apprehended several Montclair residents for driving under the influence, stealing purses, and hindering apprehension.
Montclair Police responded to a the scene of an accident on Jan. 6, to discover that a Dodge Dakota had crashed into a parked Mercedes E350 before finally striking a tree on Valley Road.
Police arrested Laura Emrich, 51, of Montclair, after identifying Emrich as the individual operating the Dodge Dakota. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Montclair Police Lt. David O’Dowd stated.

A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft, for stealing a pocketbook at Clary Anderson Arena on Jan. 2, O’Dowd reported. The pocketbook and its contents were recovered and turned over to the victim.
Cornelius Sweatt, 30, of Montclair was charged with Hindering Apprehension on Jan. 7, for providing a false name to officers at the scene. Officers who apprehended Sweatt on Montague Place also discovered open warrants for Sweatt’s arrest, totaling $2,500. The warrants were issued by the Clifton Police Department.

Montclair Police arrested Gerard Burwell, 43, of Montclair during a traffic stop on Jan. 10 on Bloomfield Avenue at N. Fullerton Avenue. During the stop, Montclair Police discovered several outstanding warrants for Burwell’s arrests. The warrants were issued by Montclair for $597, Hillside for $2,500, Plainsboro for $1,080, Sayreville for $1,030, and Jamesburg for $254.
