Pine Brook Fire Dept. Truck to be Welcomed With Wetdown

Rescue pumper is already in service but will be hosed down by local departments during family event.

The will be welcoming its new rescue pumper during a wetdown Aug. 25.

The 2012 Pierce Quantum Rescue Pumper is replacing two older vehicles, according to Chief Herb Eggers. The older vehicles are 35 and 40 years old and Eggers said the new truck is equipped to do the job of both.

Eggers said the new truck, No. 378, is equipped with a Class A pumper and holds 1,000 gallons of water. It is fully equipped with rescue equipment, including a Jaws of Life unit and rescue jack system. It also has a 1,500-gallon-a-minute pump on it.

Truck 378 was recently put into service, Eggers said, but will be honored by the department, local residents and other local fire departments at the event.

"Local departments come and they hose down the new truck," he said.

The wetdown will be held at the Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department Station 1 at 47 Bloomfield Avenue from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a dj, food and drinks.
